I’m familiar with the Jap moras you speak of and the fact “there is no hard and fast grammatical transliteration of Haiku syntax from Japanese to English”. But I doubt most of the people who liked or reblogged this post are. Since we’re not in Japan and we’re not studying linguistics or phonetics, I’m sticking to my red, white and blue 5-7-5 guns. I didn’t get a B- in 8th grade English for my good looks, after all. These syllables don’t run.
